Special Programs

Lactation Consulting
Lactation Consulting/Breast Pump Rental It is our goal to provide the healthiest start for you and your baby. Providence encourages and offers support for mothers who choose to breastfeed through the Lactation Education Program and Support Services. Inpatient lactation education and support services are available at bedside to new moms as well as on an outpatient basis to moms who recently delivered their babies. For moms who experience breastfeeding difficulties after they go home, lactation consultants also provide phone support. Weekly breastfeeding support groups help women learn more and share experiences with other mothers. Breast pumps are available for purchase or rental for women who are returning to work, who have babies in the NICU, or who want to help fathers and grandparents share in the baby¹s feeding. Breast pumps and other breastfeeding supplies are available in the BabyWise Department at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

People of all ages, backgrounds and abilities who want to help others can become volunteers. An initial interview matches each volunteer's interest, talent and schedule to the Medical Centers' needs. All volunteers attend orientation to introduce them to the Providence Mission and Core Values, as well as become familiar with various departmental functions before beginning assignments at either Providence Holy Cross or Providence Saint Joseph Medical Centers. All volunteers commit to a minimum of 100 hours of service over a six-month period. Volunteers must be at least 15-years-old. Foundation Information

In the 1950's, people in the northern San Fernando Valley knew their rapidly developing area needed a local hospital. Some determined citizens helped establish their own hospital in the northern San Fernando Valley. They went door to door raising money. Al Ghirardelli, current Chair of the Providence Holy Cross Board of Trustees, traveled with these dedicated community members to meet the Sisters of Holy Cross and persuade them to open a hospital. The sisters agreed, and on On June 3, 1961 the first patient walked through the doors of Holy Cross Hospital. Visitors experienced a tradition of healing and compassion that dated back to the Civil War, when the Sisters of Holy Cross began their healing ministry. Holy Cross rebuilt after the disastrous 1971 Sylmar earthquake, and again after the 1994 Northridge quake. In 1996 Holy Cross joined the Sisters of Providence Health System. Since 1980 Providence Holy Cross Foundation has raised funds to ensure the highest quality of health care is complimented by the latest in technology. It is you, our donors, who make this possible.
If you would like to make a donation to support the medical center, or volunteer your time at a fundraising event, please call (818) 898-4600

Community Outreach & Activites

Violence Prevention Outreach Program
In addition to removing tattoos, the Providence Tattoo Removal Program seeks to reduce violence in the community through its outreach program. The Violence Prevention Outreach program makes informational presentations with current clients (who are typically ex-gang members) to local middle schools, high schools, and community organizations. These presentations cover the dangers of getting tattoos, lifestyle choices, peer pressure and other health topics.

Called me back again asking me the same question. Then the next call I get a lil' while later they are telling me a bunch of things are wrong she...

  • 9-3-2021 An ambulance transported me to Christus Spohn hospital in Beeville due to breathing issues, severe headaches, fever and confusion. They completely misdiagnosed me even though I was having those symptoms and doctor Joshua J White DO falsified several details on the medical report. Then they had me transported to their psychiatric hospital in Corpus Christi where I was told that my family put me in there and if I didn't take the med's I was never getting out. For three days I was disregar...
