Mission of Peace River Regional Medical Center

Growth and community involvement continue to be prominent themes at Peace River Regional Medical Center with over 40 years of service in Charlotte County. Founded by a group of local physicians who were passionate about serving the city's expanding population, Peace River Regional's original 50-bed hospital opened on June 4, 1962. There were three full-time physicians and one part-time physician associated with Peace River Regional at this time. Over the years, PRRMC has expanded to 212 beds, but the real growth has been in the number of services we offer the community and in the quality of those services.Vision Statement:To become a regional healthcare delivery system, providing a continuum of services and facilities to manage the healthcare needs of the citizens of Charlotte County and its contiguous counties.

Port Charlotte is a small community in Charlotte County, approximately halfway between Sarasota and Ft. Myers, on the west coast of the state. More commonly known as the "Sun Coast" of Florida, Port Charlotte is situated between the Peace and Myakka rivers with access to both Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico from approximately 165 miles of navigable waterways. Developed in the late 1950's, Port Charlotte encompasses the unincorporated area of Charlotte County and is comprised mostly of single-family homes with a sprinkling of condos and town homes. The county has an area of approximately 820 square miles and a population of approximately 127,000 (1995). Even with its small town nature, Port Charlotte offers the advantages of city life nearby - Ft. Myers is a short distance of 20 minutes away and Sarasota is only about 40 minutes. The name Punta Gorda means "Broad Point" and dates back to the landing of Ponce de Leon in 1513. It is the only incorporated city in Charlotte County and is more than 14 miles square with slightly more than 14,000 residents. In 1997, Money magazine ranked Punta Gorda "Second" of the top 20 "best places to live". Check the Real Estate listings for information on area relocation and Retirement communities. Situated approximately 100 miles south of Tampa on the Gulf Coast with easy access from I-75, this community continues to offer leisurely, uncongested and unhurried living. Charlotte Harbor flanks the northwest side of the city offering 129 square miles of sparkling water; clear sunshine, fishing at its finest, wildlife in abundance and a casual, friendly atmosphere that appeals to those who are seeking the natural pleasures of life. The recently revitalized downtown has cobblestone streets and gas lamp streetlights. The residential area features many brick streets lined with stately royal palms and many old Florida-era tin-roofed homes boasting wide verandas.

The only meds she had was eye drops. They were getting ready to send her back home the next day. Then call me back and asked if she had a do not resuscitate order? I said yes. Called me back again asking me the same question. Then the next call I get a lil' while later they are telling me a bunch of things are wrong she...

  • 9-3-2021 An ambulance transported me to Christus Spohn hospital in Beeville due to breathing issues, severe headaches, fever and confusion. They completely misdiagnosed me even though I was having those symptoms and doctor Joshua J White DO falsified several details on the medical report. For three days I was disregar...
