As a medical professional/RN who has worked with multiple surgeons, I have two major concerns with Dr. Raterman. 1) He f...ailed to follow the (artificial hip implant) manufacturers instructions to notify patients who received FDA-recalled hips, and to conduct the recommended bloodwork and scans/follow-up to adequately monitor for serious side effects related to the recalled implant (ie- leaching toxic metals into the blood!). 2) He and his staff are near impossible to reach for questions and concerns. I had to leave four messages, show up in person at the office, and email the office manager in order to get a return phone call from his assistant, Tracey. Despite attempts to reach Raterman directly regarding surgery complications (such as blood loss requiring transfusion, hip infections, and pneumonia), this surgeon has NEVER returned any of the multiple calls made to his office and answering service. Do yourself a favor and find a surgeon who has competencies other than slicing open your loved ones. more details
