In 2009 I made the biggest mistake of my life receiving treatment from this place. I had a bad stomach ache and went to Union Hospital, thinking I would probably just have some x-rays and be on my way. Unfortunately, it was Diverticulitis and it had abscessed. They told me I would have to be admitted, so I said I had to make some arrangements and would be back within the hour. They told me to go to Salem Hospital when I returned, since they are better equipped to handle my case. When I checked in, the nurses were all very attentive and took great care of me that first night. I was taken to CT Scan or MRI early in the morning to have a catheter inserted into the abscess to drain it. Everything was fine and around noon the first nurse came to flush it with saline. It hurt, but I felt the flush in the area where the pain was, so I knew it was flushing it. The second nurse came later that afternoon and seemed more concerned with saying hi to all of the other 5 to 7 people in the room. It was a large room with beds everywhere. When she did the flush, unlike the first nurse who put the saline in very gently, this nurse just shot it in fast and I felt a pop and cold going everywhere in that area, instead of just one spot like the first nurse had done. I told them immediately that it had broke but was told it was fine. They never checked with a CT to see if it was still attached in the five days I was admitted. Every time they would come in to flush it, I told them the same thing, the cold flush was going going everywhere instead of just the abscess, I could feel cold all over my right side just below my ribs. Again, was told everything was fine and was even asked if I was a doctor. I only saw the doctor the night I was admitted and on the fifth day when I was released. When I was sent to CT to have the drain removed, the technician said immediately, "this isn't even attached, it's just floating around". Which I already knew.

The Doctor told me to follow up with a colonoscopy a week or two later, which I did, and he told me everything was fine and I didn't need surgery to have the affected area removed. He said it was just a simple case of diverticulosis.

Everything was fine for a couple more weeks while I was on the antibiotics, but a few days after I stopped taking them, my right side rapidly filled, it honestly looked there was an elbow sticking out of my side. I called the doctor immediately and got an appointment. He told me it was just residue from the affected area working its way to the surface and I was fine. The area finally came to a head and broke and I'm not kidding, two large cups of liquid came out, blood, puss and fecal matter. This continued for THREE YEARS. Every time I went to see him telling him how sick I was and what was coming out of me (digested food) he gave me the same line about it being residual fluids and matter from the affected area. THREE YEARS.

My last visit to him was in late 2011. I was dying, and when I showed up for my appointment, he threw his hands up in the air and said "what are you doing here now". I was done and sought other treatment, no matter where my insurance told me I had to go.

I found another doctor at another hospital who I could tell didn't want to get involved, but he gave me Cipro and Flagyl with around 8 refills. That kept the infection down for a while. Eventually I went to Beth Israel Hospital and the surgery was done within days.

I'm grateful to them, but I've never been the same. I have constant body fatigue, and still pain in the area once and while, but I am alive. Unfortunately, they dismissed what I went through for three years and stuck up for the horrible doctor at Salem Hospital, so no attorney would even take my case. For three years, I had blood, puss, and whatever I ate coming out of my side. The infection would get so bad at times, every joint in my body felt like it was on fire. I was throwing up five times a day, eventually losing many teeth, which I had always had perfect teeth. Now my legs (from being in bed for three years) are very sore all the time and red and swollen.

SALEM HOSPITAL DESTROYED MY LIFE - and got away with it, since all doctors stick up for each other, even horrible ones who couldn't have been bothered to treat a patient in his care. I know this all stemmed from the nurse who broke the abscess, but for three years the doctor was 100% negligent in getting to the bottom of what I was going through.

The only meds she had was eye drops. They were getting ready to send her back home the next day. Then call me back and asked if she had a do not resuscitate order? I said yes. Called me back again asking me the same question. Then the next call I get a lil' while later they are telling me a bunch of things are wrong she...

  • 9-3-2021 An ambulance transported me to Christus Spohn hospital in Beeville due to breathing issues, severe headaches, fever and confusion. They completely misdiagnosed me even though I was having those symptoms and doctor Joshua J White DO falsified several details on the medical report. Then they had me transported to their psychiatric hospital in Corpus Christi where I was told that my family put me in there and if I didn't take the med's I was never getting out. For three days I was disregar...
