Dr. Kim H Goldmintz, DO

This doctor is releasing my family member (who has end stage Alzheimer's dementia) from a rehab facility in Tamarac FL a...fter only 10 days of staying there (her insurance pays for 100 days). My family member cannot eat on her own, she can't stand up and walk around on her own, she can't bathe or use the rest room without assistance. But none of that seems to matter to his doctor because my family member is insured through HUMANA and she is unable to milk the system for all its worth. We were given 24 hour notice that she had to leave the facility. The doctor has the option to extend the stay through the insurance (without coverage its $240 a day). We BEGGED the social worker to talk to the doctor, to ask her for a little bit of understanding and mercy during the Thanksgiving holiday, but the doctor hasn't so much as returned our urgent call.
My family member, who is going to be released back to her assisted living facility (which can't care for her in her advanced state) will likely starve over the holiday weekend.
Why do we allow heartless people to care for our loved ones? I'm sure Dr. Goldmintz will enjoy her Thanksgiving with her family, we will be worried about ours starving.
